Classroom Netiquette Rules

For my Senior High classroom, I have chosen these Netiquette rules:

1. Use the Golden Rule: Treat others how you would like to be treated. Treat people on the Internet just like you would treat someone sitting next to you in class. Correcting others grammar, using slang and lots of sarcasm can make you appear to be a very rude person. Please be respectful!

2.Always make sure that the Internet site you are about to visit is approved by me or one of your parents. There are many bad sites out there, and the most important thing is your safety. This includes not opening emails that you are unfamiliar with. They could have bad content, or worse be a virus.

3.NEVER post your full name, address, phone number, location, passwords or any other important information online. Even emails can be sent astray.

4. Always cite anything you use from the Internet. Plagiarism is ugly and very disrespectful. make sure to give people props for all their hard work!

5.Be polite with Instant Message Language as well as caps. ALL CAPITALS CAN BE RUDE. Somtims loz of abrv can get annoying ALT u know!? BRB and LOL can get bothersome.
